THE BUS IS INSURED AND ALMOST READY

After endless hours of searching, I finally found a company to insure the little book bus. Yippee, I was starting to loss hope. The original company to quote us backed out and it was nearly impossible to find another one. Today after work I purchased insurance and spent 2+hrs sitting at the DMV. Few more things then the little book bus renovations will be complete. Come the New Year we will be ready to start delivering all these great books!!

Inspiring children one book at a time

ANOTHER GREAT DAY AT THE MARKET

We had another great day at the Sunday market. Lots of people stopped by to say "hello" and learn more about the little book bus. We sold a few t-shirts, received donations, and filled up our book bin with donated children's books. Thank you to everyone who stopped by.

Together we can make the world a better place one book at a time!

MORE BOOKS

Volunteered at the scholastic warehouse sale. They have a great program where you get book money for the hours volunteered. I was able to bring a few hundred books back home with me. The books in the third picture are all in Spanish, which will be nice to have. I know the kids are going to love all these great choices.

BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!!!

PAINTING THE BUS

The little book bus is getting there. Almost finished putting the first coat of paint on. The second and third ones will go on much faster. Next we'll get the name on the bus and then we'll be ready to hit the road and start delivering these great books. Completed bus coming soon!! We now  have a deadline and the bus will be completed by December 31. Starting in the New Year we will begin to deliver books.

The count down is on!!

GETTING BOOKS ONTO THE LITTLE BOOK BUS

Thank you for all the wonderful books that have been donated! There are so many awesome titles; the children are going to love them! I have begun cleaning, sorting, and organizing the books to get them ready to load on to the little book bus. It is very exciting to see things coming together. Soon enough we will be out there delivering these great books to some very happy children. Remember to save your gently used children’s books. You can drop them off at one of the markets or send us an email and we can arrange for a pickup. Every book makes a big difference in a little ones life. Keep the books coming in!

Thank You!!

COME VISIT US AT THE MARKETS

img_0942It has been great to be at the Hyde Park and Seminole Heights Markets the first and second Sunday of each month respectively. We have had a wonderful time sharing with others our missionimg_0933 and getting the community involved. There has been a lot of positive feedback and we’ve met some amazing people. People have begun dropping off children’s books, purchasing t-shirts, and donating funds to help the little book bus. THANK YOU to everyone who has come out to support us! Together we can make a difference in children's lives one book at a time. Make sure to come visit us and see what’s new at the next upcoming market.

 See you there!

THE BOOK BINS ARE INSTALLED

My sons Eagle project was finally approved by council. The process took much longer than we had thought, but he did it and received approval. The last two weekends the boys worked hard to get the bins built and installed. On the first Saturday the wood was measured, cut, sanded, and painted. Then last Saturday more scouts and friends returned to build and install the bins. There was a lot of hard work going on that day. The bins are built and the boys did a great job. A big "THANK YOU" to everyone who came out and helped. They look awesome!!!  I can’t wait to put the books in. We painted each bin a different color so we can organize the books by age groups. All I have left now is to paint the little book bus. We are getting close and can’t wait to get out there and deliver these great books to children in the community.

THE LITTLE BOOK BUS WAS ON ABC NEWS

Here is the clip from ABC News that aired tonight featuring the little book bus (click on picture to watch.)2016-08-01_2000

GOING TO BE ON THE NEWS

This afternoon I received a phone call from a friend and was asked if I was up for an interview to be a part of an upcoming news story on ABC News. The upcoming story is about the Florida teacher shortage and they wanted t046o ask me questions about why I left teaching, how could things change, and what was I up to now. I said sure since it is a great way to help get the word out about the little book bus. I agreed to meet with Adam Walser an hour later.

They arrived and 044I was still in the process of painting and working on the bus, so I was definitely a mess. The reality is that's the way I usually look these days as I am usually out there doing something on the bus. Anyways, I think the interview went well. I guess we'll see when it airs. I probably made a fool of myself, but hey I was able to talk about the little book bus and what our plans are.  Always a good thing. As we are definitely going to need to get the community excited and behind us to accomplish our mission.  Together we can make a difference.
